Exact age counts complete calendar years first, then complete months in the remaining period, then the remaining days. This accounts for variable month lengths and leap years — which is why 29 February birthdays need special handling.
Your age in years is the number of complete 365-day (or 366-day for leap years) cycles since your birth. Your age in days is the total count of calendar days elapsed since your date of birth — this is more precise.
Different calculators handle the birth date differently — some include the birth date, some start counting from the next day. Legal age calculations (for passports, visas, driving licences) typically count from the day after birth.
